REPORT FROM MAYFLOWER ON MAY 16

Teenagers’ Mentorship Class visited Mayflower School yesterday as publicised on facebook and our blog – www.teenagersclass.wordpress.com – and we are glad about the turn out of the programme because it was encouraging for us to see young people being motivated by our humble experiences and aspiring to start out on the paths to live life according to plan. We had the attention of over 2000 (two thousand students) probably between the ages of 10 – 19 captured from the beginning of the presentation to the end for 25 minutes with nuggets for them to act with.

Questions came in after the presentation and the ones that could be attended to immediate were answered but some needed more time so we gave out our contacts and as well requested they join the facebook group for effective follow up. We proceeded to Mrs. Solarin’s house after the meeting and, as usual, was so open and encouraged by what we were doing. She advised us and also recommeded some books that can help.

We need to say that it was a success because of the support we have received first from Mr. Adewale Bakare, a director in the hostel who consented to allowing us address them and the likes of Bosun Sotonade who hosted Fola Daniel Adelesi for the night and drove down with us in his car. We also had Babaunde Gbadebo who came along with his car and were joined by another ex student of Mayflower, Tosin Bankole, who just heard about the trip and was really fired up to go with us. We are not going to relent but you have to keep praying for us.

TMC at Oregun Senior High School.

The duo of Oyinkansola Alabi and Fola Daniel Adelesi who have both been passionate about the productivity of teenagers visited Oregun Senior High School today 28 day of April 2010 after series of negotiations with the Vice Principal, Mr. O.Bolade, who consented to the idea of mentoring the teenagers mostly within the age bracket of 13 – 16.

Their focus as representatives of Teenagers Mentorship Class was to empahsize the need for these teenagers to understand their differences and to maximize it. It is worthy of note that both speakers had relevant experiences to relate to these young and vibrant teenagers who obviously would not just give in to theories. Fola Daniel in his on case talked about how he has failed before and what helped him to start succeeding. Oyinkansola told the students to believe in themselves and to stand out every time without being intimidated.

At the end of the sessions the crew collected the data of the students as a way to follow up on what they have started and from verbal feedbacks gotten, it was obvious the students wanted the crew to come back. The next point of cal has not been expressly stated but it just might be Kings College, according to Fola Daniel Adelesi.

JEMRAY OFFERS TMC BOARD ROOM SPACE!

After a few minutes of explaining the vision and goals of the Teenagers’ Mentorship Class (TMC) to the Chief Executive Officer of Jemray Nigeria Limited, Engineer Ade Adekoya, the President of TMC, Fola Daniel Adelesi was given the required consent for the executive board to seat whenever it needs to in the board room of the company.

The board room of the company which is situated at 17, Adisa Akintoye street, behind the Ketu branch of Sweet Sensation, Lagos can conveniently seat the proposed 7-Man board and will serve as an official secretariat where all materials regarding TMC can be gathered.

Engineer Ade Adekoya, CEO of Jemray, thinks TMC is a laudable idea and sees no reason the organization should not be assisted to build the lives of other young people.
